Your Toolkit is designed with common interface elements to aid familiarity and consistency as you navigate your way around.
Left sidebar menu
The left sidebar menu is the global navigation for the Toolkit. This enables you to navigate and access your performance and your tasks.
The sidebar lets you access and navigate to:
- the Help Desk, by clicking in the top left corner.
- notifications, by clicking
in the top right corner of the sidebar menu. Find out about notifications
- your profile to view your employee data, and more
- My Performance section, visible to all general staff and let's you access Toolkit functionality pertaining to you as an employee of your organisation.
- My Tasks section, if you are assigned with internal roles such as a line manager, L&D Officer, Community Engagement Officer or Director where you are expected to perform certain tasks within your organisation.
You can hide the sidebar by clicking in the top navigation bar of main view.
Sidebar navigation in iPhones
In your iPhone, the sidebar is hidden by default. You can navigate and open the sidebar in two ways:
- Tap in the top left of the navigation bar when you're viewing main screens, or the first screen when you tap a menu from the sidebar.
- Tap in the bottom left of the toolbarwhen you're viewing content screens.
Screen hierarchy
As you traverse a hierarchy of screens, the top navigation bar provides navigational context. The navigation bar’s title can show your current position in the hierarchy, and the back button makes it easy to return to the previous location. As such, the sidebar button is accessed from the bottom toolbar. Learn more about toolbar below.
Notifications
Notifications are updates about activities, tasks or announcements on the Toolkit. You can check your notifications by clickingin the top left corner of the sidebar menu. You’ll find updates about your L&D courses, status on approvals, tasks you are required to complete and important event reminders.
There are two types of notifications that you receive:
- Activity notifications inform you of status updates for relevant workflows and tasks, like status of your pre-training approvals. These usually require you to perform a task. You can click this notification, as indicated by , to open the relevant record.
- Event notifications are passive, system-wide alerts and reminders that inform you of a time-bound event. These notifications don't usually require you to take action and, as such, are not clickable.
Badge
A badge, indicated by a red circle with a number, appears when you have new, unread notifications.
Other Interface Essentials
Navigation Bars
These are essential elements that provide navigational context and allows traverse to and from content views of each module - or the main views. These appear at the top of content views, and generally contain the following elements:
- Back button in the left-hand side, and often labeled with the title of the previous screen.
- Page Title in the middle, or in some cases a segmented control that let's you switch between views.
- Controls or activity buttons in the right-hand side that let's you communicate or perform actions.
Toolbars in iPhone app
As you navigate and open new screens, a toolbar appears at the bottom of your screen. A toolbar contains buttons for performing actions relevant to the current view or content within it. For example, and appear in the toolbar so you can easily access the sidebar and new notifications.
Content Views
As they are called, the content view is the primary view that your users see in the Toolkit. It can contain a collection of list items divided into sections, as in the Library, or a tabbed view of text and images, as in the appraisals.
Dashboard
After logging in to the Toolkit, the first thing that you see is your dashboard.
Your dashboard shows realtime progress of your L&D achievement. Depending on your grade, minimum L&D hours are set for each L&D level at the beginning of the calendar year. You are expected to achieve these before the end of the calendar year.
