Two-factor authentication (2FA) is an extra layer of security meant to ensure that you are the only one who can access your account even if your password gets compromised.

  How 2FA works

  • You will need access to your mobile phone with the authenticator app. Read on to find out about the enrolment process.
  • You will need to enter the six-digit code every time you sign in to the Toolkit.
  • The six-digit code is time-based. This means that it is only valid within 30 seconds before a new set of code is generated.
  • You have three attempts to enter a valid code, after which you will have to wait for five minutes before you can sign in again.

2FA Enrolment Process

Step 1. Download and install an authentication app

Before you can set up 2FA on your account, you’ll need to download and install an authentication app on your mobile device. BUK EE Toolkit 2FA can be used with most Time-Based, One-Time Password (TOTP) applications. Here are a few options to get you started:

Step 2. Enable 2FA

  1. Sign in to BUK EE Toolkit.
  2. The next screen will prompt you to enable your authenticator app by scanning a QR code. Keep this window open as you reach for your phone.

      Tip

If, in the following steps, you cannot scan the QR code for any reason, click Show Code located beneath the QR code. You can manually type this key into the authenticator app by tapping Enter key manually.

  3. On your mobile device, launch your authenticator app and scan the QR code or enter the key manually.
    The authenticator app generates a one-time six-digit 2FA code.
  4. Return to BUK EE Toolkit app and click Next.
  5. Enter the six-digit code to sign in.

Your BUK EE Toolkit account is now protected by 2FA. Every time you sign in to BUK EE Toolkit, just open your authentication app and enter the six-digit code.

  Troubleshoot 2FA

If you got a new phone or laptop, you can ask your administrator to manually disable 2FA for your account.
